I don’t want my poetry

to be a list of complaints

No one wants to hear that

including me


I don’t want my poetry

to be about me at all

No one cares about me

including me


I don’t want my poetry

to get in anyone’s way

to stop anyone in their tracks

except me


I don’t want my poetry

to be left unread

by anyone

except me


Maybe

I don’t want my poetry

at all.
